Community Coffee Hub Opens To Celebrate Care Home’s 35th Birthday

An entrepreneur from Lincolnshire has opened a Community Coffee Hub to celebrate the 35th birthday of one of his businesses – all thanks to the superfast broadband installed by Quickline.

Chris Bainborough opened the Grosvenor Care Home in East Stockwith in 1985. Now, with help from the Village Trust, he has transformed a room in the home into a coffee hub. It’s being used to host community events like cards and dominos. Local residents have even been invited to bring their pets along to the hub to forge even stronger community friendships. A mobility-friendly room, it also houses the village defibrillator and is being used as the local polling station.

Chris said:

“This is a wonderful addition to our community and it’s proving to be extremely popular. We also have a state-of-the-art coffee machine and we’ve found that many of the district nurses time their rounds so that they can pop in for a decent cuppa! And it also offers everyone the chance to catch up on their social media because they can take advantage of the fast, reliable internet service we receive from Quickline.”

Chris continued that it would never have been possible with their previous broadband supplier.

“At that time, with speeds of only 1Mbps, even the simplest of tasks, like sending an email, was a slow and clunky process. It was impossible to run a modern business. We heard lots of excuses and were reassured the service would improve, but it never did.

“We are so grateful to Quickline. Five years ago they installed a mast at my farming business which not only serves my home and own companies, it also connects 50 other houses in the area with speeds of up to 50Mbps – fifty times our previous top speed.”

Hayley Silvester, Head of Sales for Quickline said:

”We are absolutely delighted to have been able to connect this community and to have made such an impact in the village of East Stockwith. This is a perfect example of how we can help homes and businesses in rural areas. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our expertise in using state-of-the-art technologies to achieve superfast internet speeds. The fact that our mast also connects 50 other properties is a huge bonus for the community and we are thrilled that villagers are reaping the rewards too.”
